Wedding Hair Series - Bridesmaid Hairstyles

Bridsmaids Hairstyles for Women

Bridesmaid hairstyles can’t be forgotten in my wedding hair series, so I am dedicating this article completely to bridesmaids. Personally, I am a fan of casual bridesmaid hairstyles.

Keeping the bridesmaid hairstyles more subdued, is just one more way to give the bride more of the spotlight on her big day. I prefer for the bride to stand out as much as possible, whether it comes to dresses, hairstyles or anything to do with the wedding.

However, I understand there are probably too many options out there to choose from, so here are some of my suggestions for bridesmaid hairstyles!

Bridesmaid Hairstyles for women
Bridesmaid Hairstyles - Sleek and Simple Up  Dos

Sleek and simple bridesmaid hairstyles, worn in classy updos, is a great choice for a formal event. You can choose to do different updo hairstyle for each bridesmaid, or you can opt to have all of your attendants wearing the same bridesmaid hairstyle, which is really a classy look!

With a formal event, I would strongly suggest hiring a professional hairdresser to do the bridesmaid hairstyles, since most, if not all the bridesmaids will not know how to style their hair this way.

I love this hairstyle for bridesmaids because it looks attractive on most everybody and  doesn't require everyone to have the same length of hair.

You can wear just a bit of hair up, if you have very short strands, or you can put more up if your hair is longer. Perfect for showing off a bridesmaid dress with a great neckline, this bridesmaid hairstyle is contemporary and will work for just about everyone and just about any dress.

Bridesmaid Hairstyles – The Side Pony

One of my favorite bridesmaid hairstyles is a side ponytail. The side ponytail is so versatile because it can be worn sleek and smooth for a formal event or it can be styled full of volume and body for a more laid back affair.

You can also add accessories such as fresh flowers, or something sparkly, to spice up the bridesmaid hairstyle even more. This hairstyle is also easy on the budget because most women with long enough hair to do this, can easily style their hair into a side ponytail.

Remember to match your bridesmaid hairstyles, with the tone of the event, just as you would coordinate any other part of the wedding. A formal event calls for formal hairstyles and it follows, a casual event calls for equally laid-back bridesmaid hairstyles.

Fabulous Tips For Choosing the Perfect Bridesmaid Hairdo

If you have been asked to be a bridesmaid in your friend’s wedding, you are probably very excited and have been thinking about how you will wear your hair for months. There are a variety of ways to decide on a hairstyle, but here are some tips that will make choosing the perfect bridesmaids hairdo even easier.

 Perfect Bridesmaid Hairdo

1. Seek out the bride. Most brides have an opinion or idea of how they want their girls to wear their hair, but most brides are respectful of the fact that in the end it is their maid’s hair and she knows what looks best on her.

A popular suggestion with most brides is just telling their bridesmaids to wear it either all up, half-up/half-down, or all down. Usually the bride will make this decision based on how she is wearing her hair. So, be sure to get the bride’s opinion before you get your heart set on something. After all, it is her day.

2. Get yourself some hair catalogs and surf the web. The best way to know what is hip and in style, is to purchase a hair catalog or two and search the Internet for suggestions.

The Internet is one of the best ways to find what you are looking for because it gives to the opportunity to search for hairdos based on your hair type. For instance, you can type “updos for curly hair” or “formal hairstyles for short hair” into the search engine and it will bring up images and even some how-to tips on how to pull it off.

3. Even though you aren't the bride, you should schedule yourself for a practice hair session. While there shouldn't be a lot of pomp and circumstance about it, just get the name of the salon where the bride wants you to get your hair done, if there is one, and call and schedule an appointment to have a hair run through.

Since you aren't the bride, you’ll probably have to pay for it, but it will be worth it to see if the hairstyle you have selected looks good on you.

4. Invest in some pizzazz. If you are doing an updo, you should check with the bride and okay some hair accessories.

Whether you choose little diamond studded bobbie pins or a gorgeous fake flower, nothing pulls together a great updo like some beautiful hair accessories.

You can pick some up at your local drugstore, or order them offline to make them match your dress. You should also check with the bride to make sure she hasn't purchased any.

She may have matching hair accessories she wants you and the other bridesmaids to wear. Another great tip when it comes to hair accessories is that less is more! Be sure that whatever hair accessories you choose don’t take away from the actual hairstyle.

5. No matter what hairstyle you decide on, you should be sure that you don’t outshine the bride. A good way to know whether or not your hairstyle outshines the bride is to ask if you can go with her to her hair run through before you schedule your own.

This will give you an idea of what she has planned for herself, and will help you better evaluate your own hairstyle when you go to your own practice session.

3 Pointers For Choosing Hairstyles For Your Wedding

The wedding day is the most important day in any girl’s life and every one of them would want it to be extremely special.

They would all their near and dear ones to be present there and celebrate the most important occasion of their lives which embarks on a new journey to be made along with their soul mate.

On this day they would want every detail to be simple and sophisticated that would make the entire event perfect and worth remembering. It is natural for her to be concerned about the wedding gown, venue and every other petty affair. They would want to everything to be perfect ranging from the bridesmaids’ dresses to the decorations made.

On the wedding day, the bride always takes the most time to get ready as they would like to turn up in a glamorous gown, stunning shoes, expensive jewels, best make up and the sexiest hairstyle available. They generally get a hair stylist to come over on the wedding day which costs a fortune or they turn up at the stylist’s parlor before the wedding day.

1. Chemical Treatments to the Hair - Sometimes a new haircut make you look wonderful but at times it can turn out to be a real blow. Therefore you need to plan ahead of this event with the chemical treatments like bleaching, coloring, streaking, perming or straightening.

If you plan to make a radical change to your look like in length or style, it is advisable that you do it at least six to eight weeks before the event. This will let your hair adjust itself with the new style and even if it looks bad, the time frame can help to recover from the mistake.

2. The Perfect Hairstyle - You will be the center of attraction on your wedding day and all eyes will be on you. Everyone will be looking forward to how beautiful you will look on the most important day of your life.

Your new hairstyle can either glorify your wedding picture or spoil it and hence it is imperative for you to find a good hair stylist who can make a good judgment and save you the embarrassment.

A hastily crafted coif decided upon only minutes before the ceremony can play the spoilsport and thus it is vital for you to sit down with your stylist and freeze on a good and safe style months before the day of your wedding. Since you will not want to look bad on your wedding day, choose the hairstyle carefully and get it approved by your appointed hair stylist.

The brides with the larger figures should wear their hair up which draws attention and slims the face down whereas the ones with a slim figure should look at curls which accentuate the face and shoulders.

3. Men’s Hairstyle - Even though men pretend not to worry about their looks, they spend at least fifteen minutes to check whether their gel has kept their hair in place.

It is vital to sport great hairstyles on your wedding day because they accentuate the importance of the event and also helps in having amazing wedding pictures.

Updo Hair Styles for Wedding and Special Occasions

updo hairstyle for wedding

Beautiful Updos for Wedding and Other Special Occasions

If there is one thing that can make or break a beautiful gown, it is the hairstyle that you choose to complement it with. Your hair is your crowning glory. A simple gown can be taken several notches higher with the right hairstyle to complement your entire look.

It is for this reason that many women take a whole lot more time in styling their hair than anything else.  For that added glam and sophistication, many women with medium or long hair would often use beautiful updos for wedding and other special occasions.

Choosing from the different beautiful updos for wedding and other special occasions greatly depend on a number of factors. One factor to take into consideration which updo to style your hair into is the gown you are wearing. If you are wearing a simple gown for your wedding day or for your prom, you can complement this by choosing an updo that is slightly complicated.

Curly updos and updos that style your hair to resemble flower petals are beautiful updos for wedding and other extremely formal occasions such as your prom night. On the other hand, if your wedding gown or prom dress is already intricately design, consider choosing a simpler updo such as the classic French twist or a ballerina bun.

If you find these simple updos a little bit too simple for your taste, you can take this up a few notches by adding some glittering accessories or flowers.

Another thing to take into consideration when selecting which of the many beautiful updos for wedding and other special occasions to use to complement your entire look is your facial structure.

Because beautiful updos for wedding and other special occasions tend to expose your entire face, some face shapes may appear to become wider as a result of the updo.

To remedy this, it would be best to consult your hairstylist to see how to modify the updo so that it would be able to not only complement your entire outfit, but would also make your face extremely flattering for those close-up picture taking opportunities.

Bride stylists by Marisa Cortes

Bride stylists gathered medium sized sections of hair and sprayed them with setting lotion. Each section was then curled with a curling iron and pinned.

Each curl was then unpinned and sprayed with hair spray to give each curl a polished look.

Hair, Skin and Beauty Tips on Your Wedding Day

Tips for hair and makeup on a wedding day play a pivotal role in the manner the bride appears on this crucial day.

Sometimes the spruce up preparations for the bride begins, from as long as six months prior to the nuptials in Toronto. Many of the tasks are centered on the bride’s hair and skin quality in relation to the manner they are to fit in with the wedding attire and the ultimate theme.

There are various points that one should bear in mind as they plan for their wedding even when it is still months away. Securing a Toronto hair stylist should immediately follow the choice of hairstyle that one plans to spot on the material day.

Once the search is positive, one should make advance arrangements including booking. If there any experiments involving haircuts or color applications, these should be tried out well in advance, so that one can have a good idea of what the final hairstyle would look like.

If one has had skin problems before, they need to consult a Toronto dermatologist to clear any scars, stretch marks or any other blemish that may spoil the glow of their skin. Plenty of sleep will also help the skin to relax hence get a better feeling.

These tips become crucial as the countdown to the ceremony reduces by the minute. This is the time when one should have a massage to relax the skin and body muscles thus get renewed strength.

Skin polishing can also be done alongside exfoliation. Furthermore, one should not shy away from moisturizing their skin. The hair treatment should be done during this period. This should be preceded by its thorough cleaning and relaxation.

The appropriate style can also be put in place as long as adequate measures are used to ensure that it is intact during the entire ceremony. Final preparations common in Toronto should also include spraying of the hair and application of transparent powder to make the skin glow.

All beauty tips for skin, hair and makeup on the wedding day should be exhausted there and then. This will help to bring out the style and the desired look in the bride. Securing a Toronto hair stylist should immediately follow the choice of hairstyle that one plans to spot on the material day.

Hair, skin and all other beauty tips are not just about what you should do but what you should avoid as well. For instance, over exhaustion prior to the marriage ceremony day will affect the skin care tips that you put in place because the skin reflects a person’s general well being.

Starving oneself will also mess the hair and the skin hence ruin your appearance plans for this big day. This should be preceded by its thorough cleaning and relaxation. The appropriate style can also be put in place as long as adequate measures are used to ensure that it is intact during the entire ceremony.

Rushed preparations will lead to embarrassing moments when one confuses hair and skin products thus making one’s Toronto wedding one to forget sooner than later.

Wedding Hairstyles for Short Hair

“Short Wedding Hairstyles”With all this wedding hairstyles talk, I’d like to take a moment to discuss short wedding hairstyles. Don’t want long, cascading locks for your wedding day?

It’s not a problem, because there are a variety of options for short wedding hairstyles too! There are a variety of reasons you may not have long hair for your wedding;
  • You may not have the time to grow out your hair
  • You don’t want to pay for pricey extensions or
  • You love your short hair and want to work with it on your wedding day. All of these reasons plus some have led me to be creative when it comes to short wedding hairstyles.
Short Wedding Hairstyles
Stunning short wedding hairstyle

I love creating faux up-dos for short wedding hairstyles. You can create this look by setting hair in large Velcro rollers and then pulling hair up and off face toward the back of your head.

Keep key pieces in place by using bobby pins and a hard hold hairspray like Kenra's Platinum Finishing Spray. Add accessories like fresh flowers or a decorative hair piece in the back to conceal where you are pinning the short strands at.

If you are wearing a veil during the ceremony and throughout the reception, you don’t have to add any accessories in the back because your veil will cover that. This is the perfect style for the bride who really wanted to grow her hair out for an up-do but didn't have time.

Short Wedding Hairstyles
Spice up your short wedding hairstyle

My advice for brides that don’t want to wear a veil is to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. You can definitely dress up your short wedding hairstyles with simple accessories that differentiate this hairstyle from your everyday style.

One of my favorite short wedding hairstyle accessories is the headband. I love these sparkly, elaborate headbands made just for brides. This definitely says 'wedding hairstyle' and gives you the option of a DIY short hairstyle. You can style your hair normally, slip on your headband and voila...your wedding hairstyle is done in less than 10 minutes!

Other accessories you may want to try are hair pins that have Swarovski crystals or other sparkly jewels on them. And if you want something that is super stylish and chic right now, try a feathered accessory to complete your short wedding hairstyle. You can don a feather headband or a pin with feathers on it too.

Short wedding Hairstyle

Obviously I am a huge fan of accessories for short wedding hairstyles, especially those that sparkle and shine, but there are other things you can do to make your short hair stand out on your wedding day too.

Highlighting your hair is a great way to brighten your complexion (giving you that bridal glow) and giving dimension to your hair. If you haven’t highlighted your hair before, I’d suggest doing something subtle to start out with. And if you currently highlight your hair, try adding in a few lowlights for additional dimension and contrast.

Short wedding hairstyles are just as versatile as long wedding hairstyles, so don’t feel that you absolutely have to grow out your hair for your wedding.

There are plenty of options for brides with short strands too. Experiment with different hair accessories and ways to style your short hair to make the most of your short wedding hairstyle.

Mother of the Bride Hairstyles Essentials

There are various details to consider when your daughter is getting married. You will also consider your dress, makeup, shoes and other accessories. There are many choices when it comes to choosing your mother of the bride hairstyle.

Sure, your daughter will be the center of attention on her special day, however you too will also have a good share of attention, this is why it is so important to look your very best.

Since there will an assortment of other issues on your mind while getting ready for your daughters wedding day, you will want a hairstyle that is easy to maintain without a good deal of continual touch-up. Since you want an extra special look, you will not want to make any drastic changes. This is especially true right before the wedding, since you want to avoid something that is unsightly.

You will want to avoid any type of bouffant hairstyle if you will be wearing any type of head piece such as a hat, since your hair will look flat after removing the hat. A layered or bob cut is suitable for framing the face when your hair is short. Medium to long hair is very becoming when curled and swept up and away from your face and is an appealing hairstyle.

Getting Ready for the Special Day

To look your very best for the wedding, you will want to get a quality haircut at least a week or two before the wedding, whether you want to simply update your current hairstyle so that it looks fresh and beautiful or if you are going for a completely different style. You will then return to the hairstylist on the day of the wedding to have your hairstyle to your preferences.

You can ask your stylist for advice while having your hair cut as well as searching through various magazines and books that feature mother of the bride hairstyles. You can also search for your own hairstyle and then either bring in the photos that you find or print them out to bring along with you for your hairstyling appointment.

If your hair is color damaged, dry or brittle you can take a few weeks or months before the wedding to prepare your hair to look its best. You can do this by using shampoo and a deep conditioner that adds volume to your hair. A proper diet which is well balanced in nutrition and drinking plenty of water will make a big difference in the quality of your hair.

You can also massage your scalp regularly to increase the flow of blood to the scalp, which encourages the growth of new hair. Remember to always use a comb on wet hair to prevent damage and never vigorously rub wet hair when towel drying. Rather you should gently squeeze and pat the hair while using an absorbent towel as this will reduce the weakening and breaking the hair.

Choosing Your Color

With your healthy head of hair and a great cut to compliment your facial features you may want to consider coloring your hair. Many women do to add a bit of depth and interest to their own color or to cover up the gray.

You may enjoy wearing your hair in any style when it is naturally going silver or gray. Many mature women make the mistake of trying to recapture their youth and then select a hair color that is actually too harsh and dark or too light. This tends to washout their natural complexion.

You should choose colors that are warm or golden and remember to use hair products especially formulated for color treated hair in order to lock in the color while reducing fading of color.

Planning ahead is essential. These mother of the bride hairstyles tips and ideas will be helpful when helping your daughter plan out her special wedding day and looking your best.
